There’s something lovely about small talk…

There’s something lovely about small talk.
A passing comment about the weather.
A few words exchanged in a local café.
A smile and a “morning” when our paths cross.

Nothing particularly important is being said. And yet, perhaps something important is happening. Somehow, these tiny exchanges can add a little warmth to an ordinary day.

Not because every conversation will be memorable, but because every now and then, a small exchange quietly reminds us that we belong to a world full of people, not just places.

Perhaps small talk isn’t so small after all.

Note to self….

It’s completely okay to admit, at any given moment, that you have no idea what the heck you’re doing.  It’s also fine to keep right on doing it.  A lot of being an adult is figuring it out as you go….

Note to self….

None of us are getting out of here alive, so stop treating yourself like an afterthought. Eat the delicious food.  Walk in the sunshine. Jump in the sea. Say the truth you’ve been carrying in your heart like a hidden treasure.  Be silly.  Be kind. Be weird.  There’s no time for anything else.
